Hey friends, how are you enjoying your Spring so far? Here in Toronto it’s been feeling more like summer these last few days so I’ve been taking advantage of being at home and the warm weather and got a whole lot of Spring cleaning done. I’ve also been reconsidering my home decor. I don’t know if it’s a side effect of being creative but I get bored with my decor very quickly so I’m constantly changing the look of my home. At the moment I’m into a more bohemian look that focuses on neutral tones.
I had an empty spot on my wall that needed ‘ “something” but I didn’t want to do anything that required a lot of time energy and money to make as I might be changing it in a few months. I had bought some beautiful bundles of ribbon trim at a dollar store near me last fall because I knew I would find something to do with them and that time had finally come. I would use them to make a wall hanging. The piece of wood I picked up on one of my many walks with the kids.
This is a beginner friendly project, you’ll need…
- Ribbon, if you have no ribbon use yarn in various colors
- A piece of driftwood or a stick
Just use what you have at home. To begin tie a piece of ribbon to both ends of your stick and hang it on your wall. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of this step. Take another piece of ribbon and fold it in half, making sure that it’s even. Put the loop under your stick and bring the two ends of the ribbon over the stick and through the loop pull down on the string, tighten the loop. Continue doing that with all your ribbon until you have the desired amount of ribbon on your stick. And that’s it.
The nice thing about this project is that it can be customized to suit any decor or taste. Like this one I made for a little girl. Happy crafting, and don’t forget to share your project with me if you tried this.
