Hey friends how are you doing? I have a quick and easy tutorial for you today. I love plants but I have no outdoor space so I have to get creative as to where I can put them in my apartment. Who can relate? I’ve always wanted a hanging plant shelf and had planned out the one I wanted to make but not being able to go to the hardware store I had to scratch that plan.
It came to me while searching for ottomans at IKEA online. I came across these Hejne shelves and the light bulb went on! They would be perfect! Bonus they would not have to be cut and it’s a two pack!
The shelves come in two widths 28cm and 47cm. For my hanging shelves I used the 28cm wide ones. As you may already know IKEA stores are closed so I had my shelves delivered. I also used nautical rope from the dollar store that I had in my craft stash but you can use whatever rope you have at home. Don’t forget something to hang your shelves from. I used two metal screw hooks.
Let’s begin. Lay your shelf on the floor or table with the “lip” facing up. Thread one end of your rope through one slot and the other end through the other slot, pull them until they are even lengths then cross them.
Pull the ropes up on the side, making sure they’re still crossed underneath, and tie the ends together in a knot.
Now hang your shelf, place your plants and enjoy.
I had the shelves shipped with other products so total cost of this project is just $15 and it took only 5 minutes to do. Not bad for more plant display space! Let me know if you try this project. I love hearing from you. Happy Crafting!
